Will I save money living in Virgin Gorda?
We asked expats if they save money living in Virgin Gorda. They said...
"The cost of living in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands, can vary greatly depending on your lifestyle. However, it is generally considered to be higher than in many parts of the United States. This is due to the fact that most goods have to be imported, which can significantly increase their price. Housing and utilities can also be more expensive, especially in areas popular with tourists or expats. Eating out and entertainment can also be pricier than in the U.S. However, there are some areas where you might save money. For example, you may spend less on healthcare and transportation, especially if you choose to get around by walking or biking. Additionally, if you choose to eat local foods and take advantage of the natural entertainment options like hiking and beach activities, you can also save money. In terms of taxes, the British Virgin Islands does not have income tax, which could potentially lead to significant savings depending on your income level. However, they do have a payroll tax that is split between the employer and employee, as well as a social security system that both parties contribute to. In conclusion, whether or not you save money by living in Virgin Gorda compared to the United States will largely depend on your lifestyle, spending habits, and income," explained one expat living in Virgin Gorda, the British Virgin Islands.
