Is the cost of living in Puerto Rico high?

Answer this Question

We asked people how much they someone comfortably live on in Puerto Rico, they wrote...

"The cost of living in Puerto Rico is relatively high compared to other Caribbean islands. This is due to the fact that most goods have to be imported, which increases their price. Housing, utilities, and groceries tend to be more expensive than in many U.S. cities. However, healthcare and education costs are generally lower. Dining out and entertainment can also be quite affordable, depending on the area. On the other hand, the cost of living in Ecuador is significantly lower than in many Western countries. Housing is affordable, even in the larger cities, and utilities are also reasonably priced. Groceries are cheap, especially if you buy local produce. Public transportation is very affordable, but owning a car can be expensive due to high import taxes. Healthcare is also inexpensive and of good quality, especially in the larger cities. However, imported goods and dining in upscale restaurants can be pricey," remarked another expat in Puerto Rico, Ecuador.
