However, there are cheaper dining options available, particularly in areas frequented by students. Public transportation in Maastricht is efficient and widely used, but the cost can add up if used daily. Many residents opt to use bicycles as a cheaper and more environmentally friendly alternative. Healthcare in the Netherlands is of high quality, but it is mandatory for all residents to have health insurance, which adds to the monthly expenses.
