What are healthcare services like in Salto?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Salto. They wrote...

"Healthcare services in Salto are generally of good quality, with both public and private healthcare facilities available. The public healthcare system, known as ASSE, provides free or low-cost healthcare to all residents, including access to general practitioners, specialists, and hospital care. However, it is often characterized by long waiting times and overcrowded facilities. On the other hand, private healthcare in Salto is known for its high standards and efficiency. Many residents opt for private health insurance, which grants them access to private hospitals and clinics. These facilities often have more modern equipment and shorter waiting times compared to public hospitals. Pharmacies are widely available throughout Salto, providing over-the-counter and prescription medications. Some pharmacies also offer basic medical services, such as blood pressure checks and vaccinations. Emergency medical services in Salto are reliable, with ambulances available 24/7. However, in more remote areas, access to immediate medical care can be limited. Preventive healthcare is also emphasized in Salto, with regular health campaigns conducted to raise awareness about various health issues. These campaigns often include free screenings and vaccinations. Mental health services are available, but they are not as widely accessible or comprehensive as physical health services. There is a growing recognition of the importance of mental health care, and efforts are being made to improve these services. Overall, while healthcare in Salto is generally good, it is not without its challenges. The public healthcare system, in particular, is often stretched to its limits, and there is a need for more resources and improvements in efficiency," wrote a member who made the move to Salto, Uruguay.
