What are healthcare services like in Cabo Polonio?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Cabo Polonio. They wrote...
"Cabo Polonio, is a remote and rustic village that is not connected to the national power grid or water system, which also means that healthcare services are quite limited. There is no hospital or clinic in the village itself. For minor health issues, residents and visitors rely on a local pharmacy and the services of a visiting doctor who comes to the village once a week. In case of serious medical emergencies, patients have to be transported to the nearest town with a hospital, which is about an hour away by car. The village's isolation and lack of infrastructure can make access to healthcare challenging, particularly in urgent situations. Despite these limitations, the local community is known for its resilience and mutual support, often stepping in to help when someone falls ill," said a member in Cabo Polonio, Uruguay.
