What are healthcare services like in Vung Tau?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Vung Tau. They wrote...
"Healthcare services in Vung Tau are generally adequate for minor health issues. The city has several hospitals and clinics, including international medical centers, which offer a range of services from general check-ups to emergency treatments. The healthcare staff in these facilities are well-trained, with some being able to communicate in English. However, for more serious conditions, patients are often recommended to travel to larger cities like Ho Chi Minh City where there are more advanced medical facilities. The cost of healthcare in Vung Tau is relatively low compared to Western countries, but it's advisable for foreigners to have health insurance that covers medical treatments in Vietnam. The city also has several pharmacies where over-the-counter and prescription medications can be purchased. Despite these services, the healthcare system in Vung Tau, like in many parts of Vietnam, still faces challenges such as overcrowding in hospitals and a lack of certain medical equipment," remarked another expat who made the move to Vung Tau, Vietnam.
