What are healthcare services like in Phú Quoc Island?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Phú Quoc Island. They wrote...
"Healthcare services in Phú Quoc Island are relatively basic, with a few local hospitals and clinics available for residents and tourists. The island's main hospital, Phú Quoc General Hospital, provides a range of medical services, but it may not be equipped to handle more serious or complex medical conditions. For minor illnesses or injuries, there are several smaller clinics and pharmacies scattered around the island. However, for more serious medical emergencies, patients may need to be transported to larger hospitals in mainland Vietnam or even to other countries. It's also worth noting that while some healthcare providers may speak English, many only speak Vietnamese, which could pose a communication challenge for foreign visitors. Therefore, it's recommended for visitors to have travel insurance that covers medical evacuation," said another expat in Phú Quoc Island, Vietnam.
