What are healthcare services like in Dubrovnik?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Dubrovnik. They wrote...

"Medical care is well organised with English speaking doctors all around. The big cities have quality hospitals, the smaller towns have at least a first aid. Medical care is below average in price, and cheap compared to the USA. (Guess Obama needs some more support on that issue)," commented one expat who made the move to Dubrovnik, Croatia.

"Healthcare services in Dubrovnik are generally of a high standard, with both public and private facilities available. The city has a main hospital, General Hospital Dubrovnik, which provides a range of services including emergency care. There are also numerous smaller clinics and pharmacies throughout the city. Doctors and medical staff are well-trained, and many speak English, making communication easier for tourists. The healthcare system in Croatia is based on a universal health care model, with residents required to pay into a health insurance fund. For non-residents, travel insurance is highly recommended as it will cover the cost of any medical treatment needed. Private healthcare is also available in Dubrovnik, offering a higher standard of comfort and efficiency, but at a higher cost. Overall, the healthcare services in Dubrovnik are reliable and accessible," remarked another expat in Dubrovnik, Croatia.
