The town has a few clinics and pharmacies where residents and visitors can receive medical attention. For more serious health concerns, people usually travel to the nearby city of Loja, which has a larger hospital and more specialized medical services. The doctors and medical staff in Vilcabamba are generally well-trained and many of them speak English, which is beneficial for the many expats living in the area. However, it's important to note that the healthcare facilities in Vilcabamba may not be as advanced or comprehensive as those in larger cities or more developed countries. Health insurance is highly recommended for those planning to stay in Vilcabamba for an extended period of time," said a member in Vilcabamba, Ecuador.
