What are healthcare services like in Ayangue?
We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in Ayangue. They wrote...
"Ayangue, is a small fishing village, so healthcare services are quite limited within the town itself. For basic medical needs, there are local clinics and pharmacies available. These clinics are typically staffed by general practitioners and nurses who can handle minor illnesses and injuries. However, for more serious health concerns, residents often have to travel to larger cities like Guayaquil or Salinas, which have more comprehensive medical facilities, including hospitals and specialist doctors. Emergency services may not be as prompt or efficient as in more developed areas, due to the town's remote location. It's also important to note that while some healthcare providers may speak English, the primary language spoken in Ayangue is Spanish. Therefore, non-Spanish speaking individuals might face language barriers when seeking medical care," said a member in Ayangue, Ecuador.
