What are healthcare services like in San Marcos La Laguna?

Answer this Question

We asked retirees if they have access to good medical care in San Marcos La Laguna. They wrote...

"San Marcos La Laguna, is a small village that offers basic healthcare services. The town has a public health center that provides free medical care to residents, including general consultations, vaccinations, and maternal health services. However, the facility is often understaffed and lacks resources, which can lead to long wait times and limited availability of treatments. For more serious medical conditions, residents typically have to travel to larger cities like Sololá or Guatemala City. There are also a few private clinics in the area that offer a wider range of services, but these can be expensive. Traditional Mayan medicine is also prevalent in the area, with local healers offering herbal remedies and spiritual healing. Additionally, there are several wellness retreats in San Marcos that offer alternative health services such as yoga, meditation, and holistic therapies," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to San Marcos La Laguna, Guatemala.
