Is there a lot of crime in Corn Islands?
We asked people if there is a lot of crime. They answered...
"The Corn Islands in Nicaragua are generally considered safe for tourists and locals alike. The crime rate is relatively low compared to other parts of the country. Most of the crimes reported are petty crimes like theft or pickpocketing. Violent crimes are rare, but like any other place, it is always advisable to take precautions and be aware of your surroundings. The local police force is present and active in maintaining peace and order. However, drug trafficking can be an issue due to the islands' location in the Caribbean, but this does not generally affect tourists," remarked another expat who made the move to Corn Islands, Nicaragua.
