Is there a lot of crime in Santiago?

Answer this Question

We asked people if there is a lot of crime. They answered...

"Santiago is generally considered to be a safe city, however, like any large city, there is some crime. Petty theft, such as pickpocketing and purse snatching, is the most common type of crime in Santiago. Violent crime is relatively rare, but it does occur. It is important to be aware of your surroundings and take precautions when travelling in the city," commented one expat who made the move to Santiago, Chile.
