"Monteverde, Costa Rica is generally considered a safe destination for tourists and locals alike. Like any other place, it has occasional petty crimes such as pickpocketing or theft, especially in crowded tourist areas. However, violent crime is relatively rare. The local community and law enforcement work together to maintain a safe environment. Visitors are advised to take standard precautions such as not leaving valuables unattended and being aware of their surroundings. Overall, Monteverde is a peaceful place with a low crime rate," wrote a member who made the move to Monteverde , Costa Rica.
