Should I buy or rent a home in Mexico City?

Answer this Question

If you have not spent a lot of time in Mexico City, you should rent before even thinking about buying. We asked expats there about the buy vs. rent decision...

"Whether to buy or rent a home in Mexico City, depends on your individual circumstances and preferences. Buying is generally more expensive in the short-term, as you must pay for the cost of the property, closing costs, and any necessary renovations. Additionally, if you buy, you will also have to pay for ongoing maintenance and repairs for the home. Renting, on the other hand, typically requires a lower initial expenditure, and you will not be responsible for the cost of any upkeep or repairs. Ultimately, you must decide which option is best for you, taking into account your financial resources, desired lifestyle, and future plans," remarked another expat who made the move to Mexico City, Mexico.
