What is life like as an expat in your area?
When we asked people living abroad what life is like in their areas and how people spend their time, they said...
"Life for expats and digital nomads in Coimbra is generally relaxed and enjoyable. The city offers a rich history, beautiful architecture, and a vibrant cultural scene. The cost of living is relatively low compared to other European cities, making it an attractive destination for those looking to live and work remotely. The city is also home to one of the oldest universities in the world, which brings a youthful and dynamic atmosphere. Expats and digital nomads can enjoy a variety of local and international cuisines, as well as a thriving café culture perfect for remote work. The city is also known for its warm and welcoming locals, making it easy for newcomers to integrate and make new friends. Despite being a smaller city, Coimbra is well-connected with reliable public transportation, and it's easy to travel to other parts of Portugal and Europe. The city also offers a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking and river activities, and the weather is generally mild, allowing for outdoor living most of the year. However, while many locals speak English, it can be beneficial for expats and digital nomads to learn some Portuguese to fully immerse themselves in the local culture and lifestyle. Additionally, while the city offers a good quality of life, it may not offer the same level of hustle and bustle or job opportunities as larger cities," commented one expat who made the move to Coimbra, Portugal.
