Is there a lot of diversity? Are people in Kuwait City accepting of differences?
When we asked people about diversity in Kuwait City and whether locals are accepting of differences, they said...
"Kuwait City, the capital of Kuwait, is a diverse city with a mix of different nationalities, cultures, and religions. The majority of the population are Kuwaiti nationals, but there is also a significant number of expatriates from various countries, including India, Egypt, Bangladesh, and the Philippines. This multicultural environment has led to a blend of traditions, cuisines, and languages in the city. While Kuwait is an Islamic country and follows conservative values, people in Kuwait City are generally accepting of differences. The city is known for its hospitality and welcoming nature towards foreigners. However, it is essential for expatriates and visitors to respect the local customs, traditions, and laws. This includes dressing modestly, avoiding public displays of affection, and being mindful of religious practices, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. In conclusion, Kuwait City is a diverse and multicultural city where people are generally accepting of differences. However, it is crucial for visitors and expatriates to respect the local customs and traditions to ensure a harmonious experience," wrote a member who made the move to Kuwait City, Kuwait.

"We have people of various religions and faiths. But, in Kuwait Tradition and Customs are equally important. People here are becoming more accepting of non-Kuwaiti traditions e.g. women smoking in public, wearing shorts or revealing much of their body. Women don't cover head to toe here, but wearing very provocative clothes is still a bit taboo. Don't be offended when people stare at you. Everyone here stares; it's more like a sport. You'd think your fly is open or you spilled tomato sauce on your shirt. But, they are just practicing their hobby. If you go to a mall you will spot boys with spiky hair, a woman showing only her eyes, guys with baggy pants, ladies in mini skirts, girls wearing the head cover with full makeup, a guy wearing a T-shirt with Che Guevara. The crowds will vary from singles, teens, families, kids, etc. I guess you get the idea," explained one expat living in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
