What should I pack when moving to Wilderness?

Answer this Question

We asked people living in Wilderness to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...

"When moving to Wilderness, you should pack clothing suitable for a Mediterranean climate, which means light clothing for the warm summer months and warmer, layered clothing for the cooler winter months. Don't forget to pack a good quality sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the strong African sun. You should also pack sturdy walking shoes or hiking boots if you plan on exploring the many trails and natural beauty spots in the area. A swimsuit is essential for enjoying the beautiful beaches and lagoons. If you're planning on camping or spending a lot of time outdoors, consider packing a good quality insect repellent and a first aid kit. Pack all necessary toiletries, but keep in mind that most things can be bought locally. Remember to bring any prescription medication you need, along with a copy of your prescription. Pack your important documents, such as your passport, driver's license, and any necessary visas or permits. If you're bringing any electronics, don't forget to pack the appropriate power adapters. South Africa uses Type M plugs, which are not common in many other countries. Lastly, consider packing a good camera to capture the stunning scenery and wildlife that Wilderness has to offer," remarked another expat who made the move to Wilderness, South Africa.
