What should I pack when moving to Manizales?
We asked people living in Manizales to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to Manizales, it's important to pack lightweight clothing due to the city's warm climate. Include items like shorts, t-shirts, and sandals, but also pack some long-sleeved shirts and pants for cooler evenings. A rain jacket or umbrella is essential as Manizales experiences frequent rainfall. Don't forget to pack your swimsuit for the city's hot springs and a hat and sunglasses for sun protection. Comfortable walking shoes are a must for exploring the city's hilly terrain. Pack all necessary toiletries, including sunscreen, as they can be expensive to buy locally. Also, bring any prescription medications you need, along with a copy of your prescription. Remember to pack a power adapter for your electronics, as Colombia uses a different plug type than many other countries. Bring a Spanish-English dictionary or phrasebook to help with communication, as English is not widely spoken in Manizales. Lastly, pack important documents like your passport, driver's license, and any necessary visas or work permits. It's also a good idea to have copies of these documents in case they get lost or stolen," wrote a member who made the move to Manizales, Colombia.
