However, also pack a few sweaters or jackets for cooler evenings and unexpected weather changes. Don't forget to pack a good pair of walking shoes, as exploring the city on foot is common. Also, include a pair of sandals or flip-flops for more casual occasions or beach visits. Rain gear, such as a lightweight rain jacket or umbrella, is essential due to the city's frequent rain showers. Pack enough toiletries to last you until you can find local brands that suit you. This includes items like toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and any specific brands of personal care items you prefer. If you take prescription medication, bring enough to last for your first few months. It might take some time to find a local pharmacy or to arrange for your prescriptions to be filled locally. Bring a Spanish-English dictionary or phrasebook, as English is not widely spoken in Popayan. Pack a good quality, reliable backpack for day trips or weekend travel. Don't forget to bring your important documents, such as your passport, driver's license, and any necessary visas or work permits. Pack a power adapter for your electronics, as the plug type in Colombia may be different from your home country.
