What should I pack when moving to Toulouse?
We asked people living in Toulouse to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to Toulouse, you should pack a variety of clothing to accommodate for the city's mild winters and hot summers. This includes lightweight clothing for the summer months, as well as warmer clothing for the winter. Don't forget to pack a good quality raincoat or umbrella, as Toulouse can experience rainfall throughout the year. Pack enough toiletries to last you until you find a local store where you can buy replacements. This includes items like toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and any other personal hygiene items you use daily. If you take prescription medication, make sure to bring enough to last you for a while, as it may take some time to arrange for a refill in France. Bring a power adapter for your electronics, as France uses a different type of plug than many other countries. Pack important documents such as your passport, driver's license, and any necessary visas or work permits. It's also a good idea to bring copies of these documents, just in case. If you're planning on cooking, you might want to bring some of your favorite non-perishable food items, as they may not be available in France. Don't forget to pack personal items that will make your new place feel like home, such as photos, favorite books, or small keepsakes. Lastly, pack a French phrasebook or dictionary if you're not already fluent in French. This will be very helpful as you navigate your new city and begin to learn the language," commented one expat who made the move to Toulouse, France.
