What should I pack when moving to Thessaloniki?
We asked people living in Thessaloniki to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to Thessaloniki, you should pack a variety of clothing suitable for a Mediterranean climate, including lightweight clothing for the hot summers and warmer clothing for the cooler winters. Don't forget to pack a good pair of walking shoes as the city is best explored on foot. You should also pack a swimsuit for the beautiful beaches and a sun hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the strong sun. Bring any prescription medications you need, along with a copy of your prescription. It's also a good idea to pack a basic first aid kit. If you plan on cooking, you might want to bring some of your favorite non-perishable food items that might be hard to find in Greece. Remember to pack all necessary travel documents, including your passport, driver's license, and any necessary visas or residency permits. You should also bring a Greek phrasebook or dictionary to help you communicate, as well as a guidebook to help you navigate the city. If you're bringing electronics, don't forget to pack the appropriate power adapters for Greece. Lastly, pack personal items that will make your new place feel like home, such as photos, favorite books, or small keepsakes," explained one expat living in Thessaloniki, Greece.
