What should I pack when moving to Rio Dulce?
We asked people living in Rio Dulce to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to Rio Dulce, you should pack lightweight clothing due to the tropical climate, including shorts, t-shirts, and light dresses. Don't forget to pack a rain jacket or umbrella as the region experiences heavy rainfall, especially during the rainy season. Comfortable walking shoes are a must, as well as sandals or flip-flops for the beach. Pack a hat, sunglasses, and plenty of sunscreen to protect yourself from the strong sun. Also, consider packing insect repellent to protect against mosquitoes. Bring along any prescription medications you may need, as well as a basic first aid kit. It's also a good idea to pack a water bottle with a built-in filter, as tap water in Guatemala is not safe to drink. Pack your passport, driver's license, and any other necessary identification. Also, bring copies of important documents, such as your birth certificate, insurance policies, and medical records. Don't forget your electronics, such as your phone, laptop, and camera, along with the necessary chargers and adapters. Pack some entertainment for your downtime, such as books, a deck of cards, or a portable game console. Lastly, consider packing some comfort items from home, such as your favorite snacks, photos of loved ones, or a favorite blanket or pillow," commented one expat who made the move to Rio Dulce, Guatemala.
