What should I pack when moving to Playa del Carmen?
We asked people living in Playa del Carmen to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to Playa del Carmen, it's important to be sure to pack light, comfortable clothing suitable for hot weather and beach wear like sandals, shorts, and tank tops. Don't forget to bring items such as a small umbrella, swimsuit, and hats to protect yourself from the sun and beach umbrellas or beach chairs if you plan to spend lots of time at the beach. Be sure to also bring some basic toiletries, medications, and other items to take care of your health such as sunscreen and insect repellent. Also pack a flashlight and small First-Aid kit in case of an emergency. It is also important to pack all important documents such as your passport and visas to ensure a hassle-free move," remarked another expat who made the move to Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
"I wish I had brought: 1. A year's supply of my favorite hair oil. My hair is a different texture than most Spanish people. 2. Old Bay seasoning to go with the great seafood dishes here in Mexico. 3. The international telephone numbers of my account holders Should have left at home: 1. Heavy clothes that weighed too much on the flight 2. The last five year's business records 3. Any clothes not made of cotton," explained one expat living in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.
