What should I pack when moving to Bocas del Toro?
We asked people living in Bocas del Toro to list three things they wish they had brought and three they wish they had left behind. They responded...
"When moving to Bocas del Toro, it is important to pack items that will help you stay comfortable in the tropical climate. Bring lightweight, breathable clothing such as shorts, t-shirts, and sundresses. Don't forget to bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. Bring a pair of sandals or flip-flops for the beach, as well as a pair of sneakers or other closed-toe shoes for exploring the town. If you plan to spend time outdoors, bring insect repellent and a mosquito net. Finally, don't forget to bring any necessary medications and a first-aid kit," wrote a member who made the move to Bocas del Toro, Panama.

"I brought everything I wanted. Especially specialty items that are harder to get here since I am a cook. My husband brought his tools. I brought too many clothes. I am glad I did not bring my furniture. We live in shorts and flip flops and little dresses. We shipped everything down in a shared container for a very reasonable price," explained one expat living in Bocas del Toro, Panama.
