How do I find a place to live in Eindhoven?

Answer this Question

We asked expats how they chose their neighborhood and found a place to live. They answered...

"Finding a place to live in Eindhoven involves several steps. First, you need to determine your budget and the type of accommodation you're looking for. This could be a studio, an apartment, a shared house, or a student dormitory. Next, you should start your search online. Websites like Pararius, Funda, and Kamernet are popular platforms for finding rental properties in the Netherlands. You can filter your search based on your preferences such as location, price, size, and type of property. Social media groups can also be helpful. There are several Facebook groups like "Housing in Eindhoven" or "Rent an Apartment/Room/House in Eindhoven" where people often post available rooms or apartments. Another option is to hire a real estate agent. They can help you find a suitable place according to your needs and handle the negotiation process with the landlord. However, keep in mind that this service usually comes with a fee. If you're a student, you can also check with your university. Many universities have housing offices that help students find accommodation. They may have partnerships with housing corporations that offer rooms or apartments specifically for students. Once you've found a potential place, arrange a viewing. This will give you a chance to inspect the property and ask any questions. If you're abroad, you can ask for a virtual viewing. After the viewing, if you're happy with the place, you can proceed to sign the rental agreement. Make sure to read the contract carefully and understand all the terms and conditions before signing. Finally, once the contract is signed, you can arrange for the move. If you're moving from abroad, you might need to hire an international moving company. Remember to register your new address with the local municipality once you've moved in. This is a legal requirement in the Netherlands," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Eindhoven, The Netherlands.
