What do I need to know before moving to Las Terrenas?

Answer this Question

When we asked people what advice they would give someone preparing to move to Las Terrenas, they said...

"Las Terrenas is a small beach town located on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic. Expats should be aware that the town is quite remote and the infrastructure is not as developed as other parts of the country. It is important to research the availability of medical care, banking services, and other amenities before moving to Las Terrenas. Additionally, expats should be aware that the local language is Spanish and it is beneficial to learn some basic phrases before arriving. The climate in Las Terrenas is tropical and hot, so expats should be prepared for high temperatures and humidity. Finally, expats should be aware that the cost of living in Las Terrenas is relatively low, but it is important to budget accordingly," remarked another expat who made the move to Las Terrenas, the Dominican Republic.
