The cost of living in Nijmegen is relatively high, with housing being the largest expense for most expats. The city has a well-developed public transportation system, including buses and trains, and cycling is a popular mode of transport. Nijmegen is home to Radboud University, one of the top universities in the country, making it a bustling student city with a vibrant nightlife and plenty of cultural activities. The city is also known for its annual events such as the Nijmegen Marches, a four-day walking event that attracts participants from around the world. The healthcare system in the Netherlands is of a high standard, but it's mandatory to have health insurance, so expats should ensure they are adequately covered.
