Where should I setup a bank account in Rayong?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Rayong what banks they use and there advice about banking. They advised...

"Expats considering retirement in Rayong should be aware of several key factors. Firstly, the cost of living in Rayong is relatively low compared to Western countries, making it an attractive option for retirees. However, healthcare can be expensive, so it's important to have comprehensive health insurance. The climate in Rayong is tropical, with high temperatures and humidity throughout the year, which may not be suitable for everyone. The city is less crowded and quieter than other popular retirement destinations in Thailand like Bangkok or Phuket, offering a more relaxed lifestyle. Thai is the official language, and while some locals speak English, it's beneficial to learn some basic Thai phrases. The culture in Thailand is deeply rooted in Buddhism, and it's important to respect local customs and traditions. Thailand has a retirement visa, also known as a Non-Immigrant Long Stay visa, available for foreigners aged 50 and above. This visa requires proof of financial stability, either through a monthly income or a deposit in a Thai bank account. The food in Rayong, like the rest of Thailand, is flavorful and diverse, but it can be spicy, which may not suit everyone's palate. Public transportation in Rayong is not as developed as in larger cities, so many expats choose to drive. However, traffic rules and conditions are different from Western countries, and it's advisable to familiarize oneself with these before driving. Finally, while Rayong has many amenities, it's not as cosmopolitan as Bangkok or Chiang Mai, so it's important to consider whether a quieter, slower pace of life is desirable," remarked another expat in Rayong, Thailand.
