Where should I setup a bank account in Al Raha Beach?
We asked expats in Al Raha Beach what banks they use and there advice about banking. They advised...
"Expats considering retirement in Al Raha Beach, should be aware that the cost of living can be high, particularly for housing and dining out. They should also know that the official language is Arabic, although English is widely spoken. It's important to respect the local culture and customs, which are heavily influenced by Islam. This includes dressing modestly and refraining from public displays of affection. Expats should also be aware that the UAE has a hot desert climate, with high temperatures and humidity, particularly in the summer months. Healthcare in the UAE is of a high standard, but it can be expensive, so it's advisable to have comprehensive health insurance. The UAE has strict laws on alcohol consumption, which is only permitted in licensed venues and private homes, and it's illegal to drink in public or to be drunk in public. The UAE also has zero tolerance for drug use. Expats should also know that they will need a residence visa to live in the UAE, and the process can be complex and time-consuming. It's also worth noting that the UAE does not have a formal retirement visa, so expats typically need to secure a job or start a business to obtain a residence visa. Finally, expats should be aware that the UAE does not levy income tax, which can make it an attractive retirement destination for those with significant savings or a pension. However, there are other forms of taxation, including a value-added tax on goods and services," wrote a member who made the move to Al Raha Beach, the UAE.
