Where should I setup a bank account in Uvita?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Uvita what banks they use and there advice about banking. They advised...

"Uvita is a small town located in the Puntarenas Province, known for its beautiful beaches, lush rainforests, and the famous Whale's Tail sandbar formation. Before retiring in Uvita, expats should know that the cost of living is relatively low compared to many Western countries, but it's higher than in other parts of Costa Rica due to its popularity with tourists. The official language is Spanish, so it would be beneficial to learn the language or at least basic phrases to communicate with locals. The healthcare system in Costa Rica is highly rated and affordable, but it's recommended to have a private health insurance for more immediate care. The climate in Uvita is tropical, meaning it's hot and humid year-round with a rainy season from May to November. Expats should be prepared for this type of weather and the potential for tropical storms. While Uvita is a safe town, like any place, it has some crime. It's advised to take standard precautions like locking doors and not leaving valuables in plain sight. Public transportation is available but not always reliable, so having a personal vehicle can be beneficial. However, the roads can be rough, especially in the rainy season, so a four-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. The local cuisine is a mix of traditional Costa Rican food and international dishes due to the high number of expats and tourists. Finally, it's important to understand the local customs and culture to integrate into the community. Costa Ricans, or "Ticos," are known for their friendly and laid-back attitude, and the country as a whole places a high value on environmental sustainability," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Uvita, Costa Rica.
