Where should I setup a bank account in Dominical?
We asked expats in Dominical what banks they use and there advice about banking. They advised...
"Dominical, is a popular retirement destination for expats due to its tropical climate, beautiful beaches, and laid-back lifestyle. Before retiring in Dominical, it's important to understand the cost of living, which is generally lower than in many Western countries, but higher than in other parts of Costa Rica. Healthcare in Costa Rica is of a high standard and affordable, with both public and private options available. However, it's crucial to check whether your current health insurance will cover you abroad or if you need to purchase a local plan. The official language in Costa Rica is Spanish, so learning the language will make daily life and integration into the local community easier. Understanding the local culture and customs is also important. Costa Ricans, or "Ticos," are known for their friendly and relaxed attitude, a concept known as "Pura Vida" or "pure life". The process of obtaining residency can be complex and time-consuming, so it's recommended to hire a local attorney to assist with the paperwork. Dominical has a humid tropical climate, so be prepared for hot temperatures and heavy rainfall, particularly between May and November. While crime rates in Costa Rica are lower than in many other Central American countries, petty crime such as theft can be an issue, so it's important to take precautions to protect your property. Finally, it's worth noting that while Dominical offers a peaceful lifestyle, it's a small town with limited amenities. For more extensive shopping or entertainment options, you may need to travel to larger cities, which are a few hours away," commented one expat who made the move to Dominical, Costa Rica.
