Will I need to travel to see a specialist?

Answer this Question

When we asked members in Dar es Salaam if they typically need to travel to see specialists, they replied...

"Yes, there are a good number of medical specialists in Dar es Salaam. The city is home to several hospitals and medical centers that offer specialized medical care. For highly specialized medical care, people often visit the Muhimbili National Hospital, which is the largest public hospital in the country and serves as a referral center for other hospitals in Tanzania. Additionally, there are private hospitals and clinics, such as the Aga Khan Hospital and the Regency Medical Centre, which also provide specialized medical services. However, in some cases, patients may need to travel abroad, particularly to countries like India or South Africa, for more advanced treatments or procedures that may not be available in Tanzania," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
