Will I need to travel to see a specialist?
When we asked members in Accra if they typically need to travel to see specialists, they replied...
"Yes, there are a number of medical specialists in Accra. The largest public hospital in Accra is the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and it contains a range of departments and specialties, including orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, and pediatrics, among others. For highly specialized medical care, however, patients usually go to the national referral hospital in Accra, the 37 Military Hospital, which has an extensive array of treatments and well-trained staff that can offer a higher level of care. There are also various private hospitals in Accra, such as Ridge Hospital and La General Hospital, that provide specialized medical care," explained one expat living in Accra, Ghana.
