Are healthcare and health insurance expensive in Kampala?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats in Kampala if healthcare and health insurance are expensive in Kampala, they wrote...

"Healthcare and health insurance in Kampala, can be considered expensive, especially for the average citizen. The cost of healthcare services and insurance premiums are often high in relation to the average income of the population. Public healthcare facilities are often overcrowded and under-resourced, leading many people to seek private healthcare services, which are more expensive. Additionally, health insurance is not widely available or utilized, and many people end up paying for healthcare services out-of-pocket, which can be financially burdensome. The high cost of healthcare and health insurance in Kampala can make it difficult for many individuals to access quality healthcare services," remarked another expat in Kampala, Uganda.
