As a foreigner living in Chiang Mai, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Chiang Mai if they have access to public healthcare in Chiang Mai. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Chiang Mai, you will have access to public healthcare, but it may not be free or as comprehensive as the healthcare provided to Thai citizens. Public hospitals in Chiang Mai are generally well-equipped and staffed with qualified medical professionals, but they can be crowded and have longer waiting times compared to private hospitals. It is recommended for foreigners to have private health insurance to cover any medical expenses and to access private hospitals, which offer a higher standard of care and shorter waiting times," remarked another expat who made the move to Chiang Mai, Thailand.
