As a foreigner living in Rayong, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Rayong if they have access to public healthcare in Rayong. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"Yes, as a foreigner living in Rayong, you will have access to public healthcare. However, it's important to note that while Thai citizens receive free healthcare, foreigners are required to pay for their medical services. The public healthcare system in Thailand is generally of a good standard, especially in urban areas like Rayong. Hospitals and clinics are well-equipped and staffed with trained medical professionals. However, there may be long waiting times due to the high demand for public healthcare services. Many expatriates and wealthier Thais often opt for private healthcare, which offers shorter waiting times and often a higher standard of care, but at a higher cost. It's also worth noting that not all staff in public hospitals may speak English, so there could be a language barrier. Therefore, it's recommended for foreigners to have a comprehensive health insurance plan to cover potential medical costs," said another expat in Rayong, Thailand.
