As a foreigner living in Punta del Este, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Punta del Este if they have access to public healthcare in Punta del Este. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Punta del Este, you will have access to public healthcare. The public healthcare system in Uruguay is known as ASSE (Administración de los Servicios de Salud del Estado) and provides medical services to both citizens and residents. However, it is important to note that public healthcare facilities may be crowded, and waiting times can be long. The quality of care in public hospitals varies, but it is generally considered to be of a lower standard compared to private healthcare facilities. Many expats and foreigners living in Uruguay opt for private healthcare insurance to access better quality care and shorter waiting times," said a member in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
