As a foreigner living in Hanoi, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Hanoi if they have access to public healthcare in Hanoi. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Hanoi, you will have access to public healthcare. However, the public healthcare system in Vietnam may not be up to the standards you are accustomed to in your home country. Public hospitals in Hanoi are often overcrowded, and the quality of care can be inconsistent. Additionally, language barriers may pose a challenge, as not all medical staff speak English. Many expats and foreigners choose to use private healthcare facilities, which offer higher quality care and English-speaking staff. It is recommended to have comprehensive health insurance to cover the costs of private healthcare or medical evacuation if necessary," remarked another expat in Hanoi, Vietnam.
