As a foreigner living in Prague, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Prague if they have access to public healthcare in Prague. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Prague, you will have access to public healthcare if you are a legal resident and are either employed or have a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). The Czech Republic has a comprehensive public healthcare system, which is funded through compulsory health insurance contributions. The quality of healthcare in Prague is generally good, with well-trained medical professionals and modern facilities. However, it is important to note that not all medical staff may speak English fluently, and there may be longer waiting times for certain treatments or specialist appointments. It is also recommended to have private health insurance to cover any additional costs or services not included in the public healthcare system," wrote a member who made the move to Prague, Czechia.
