As a foreigner living in Milan, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Milan if they have access to public healthcare in Milan. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"Yes, as a foreigner living in Milan, you will have access to public healthcare. The public healthcare system in Italy is known for its high quality of care and is available to all citizens and legal residents. The system is funded by taxes and is free at the point of service. The public healthcare system in Italy is divided into two parts: the National Health Service (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale) and the Local Health Authority (Azienda Sanitaria Locale). The National Health Service provides general healthcare services, while the Local Health Authority provides specialized services. In addition, there are private healthcare providers that offer services at a cost," explained one expat living in Milan, Italy.
