As a foreigner living in Jurmala, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Jurmala if they have access to public healthcare in Jurmala. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"As a foreigner living in Jurmala, you will have access to public healthcare, provided you have registered with the Latvian Health Care System and have a valid residence permit. The public healthcare system in Latvia offers a range of services, including primary care, specialist consultations, hospital care, and emergency services. However, it is important to note that the quality of public healthcare in Latvia may not be on par with what you are used to in your home country. There might be long waiting times for certain treatments, and some facilities may not have the latest equipment or technology. It is recommended to have private health insurance to supplement the public healthcare system and ensure access to better quality care and shorter waiting times," said another expat in Jurmala, Latvia.
