As a foreigner living in Lake Chapala, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?

Answer this Question

We asked expats in Lake Chapala if they have access to public healthcare in Lake Chapala. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...

"Yes, foreigners living in Lake Chapala have access to public healthcare. The public healthcare system in Mexico is known as the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS). IMSS provides a range of services, including primary care, specialist care, hospitalization, and preventive care. The quality of care is generally good, although it can vary depending on the location. In addition, IMSS also offers a range of social security benefits, such as pensions and disability benefits," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Lake Chapala, Mexico.
