As a foreigner living in Bucharest, will I have access to public healthcare? What is it like?
We asked expats in Bucharest if they have access to public healthcare in Bucharest. And, if they do have access, what is it like. They wrote...
"As a foreigner living in Bucharest, you will have access to public healthcare if you are a legal resident and have registered with the National Health Insurance House (CNAS). However, the public healthcare system in Romania is known to be underfunded and understaffed, which may result in long waiting times, outdated equipment, and limited availability of specialized treatments. Many expats and locals prefer to use private healthcare facilities, which offer better quality services and shorter waiting times, but at a higher cost. It is recommended to have comprehensive health insurance to cover any medical expenses while living in Bucharest," wrote a member who made the move to Bucharest, Romania.
