What do people like (and dislike) about Port of Spain?
When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Port of Spain, they replied...
"Expats and digital nomads generally like the vibrant culture and friendly locals in Port of Spain. They appreciate the lively music scene, particularly during the Carnival season, and the diverse culinary offerings, which include a mix of Indian, African, and Creole influences. The beautiful beaches and lush green landscapes are also a major draw for those who enjoy outdoor activities and natural beauty. The relatively low cost of living is another attractive feature for expats and digital nomads, as it allows them to maintain a comfortable lifestyle without breaking the bank. Additionally, the English-speaking population makes it easier for foreigners to communicate and navigate the city. However, there are also some aspects of living in Port of Spain that expats and digital nomads may dislike. The high crime rate, particularly in certain areas of the city, can be a concern for personal safety. Traffic congestion and unreliable public transportation can also be frustrating for those who need to commute or travel around the city regularly. The hot and humid climate may be uncomfortable for some, especially during the rainy season when mosquitoes and other insects are more prevalent. Finally, the limited availability of high-speed internet and coworking spaces can be a challenge for digital nomads who rely on reliable connectivity for their work," explained one expat living in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago.
