What do people like (and dislike) about Punta del Este?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Punta del Este, they replied...

"Expats and digital nomads generally like living in Punta del Este, for its beautiful beaches, pleasant climate, and relaxed lifestyle. They appreciate the friendly and welcoming locals, as well as the safety and low crime rates in the area. The city offers a variety of outdoor activities, such as surfing, sailing, and golfing, which many expats enjoy. The cost of living is relatively affordable, and the availability of high-quality healthcare services is another attractive feature. On the other hand, some expats and digital nomads may dislike the seasonal nature of Punta del Este, as it can get crowded during the peak summer months and quiet during the off-season. The limited public transportation options can be a challenge for those without a car, and the language barrier can be an issue for those who do not speak Spanish. Additionally, while the cost of living is generally affordable, some expats may find certain items, such as imported goods and electronics, to be expensive. Finally, the job market in Punta del Este may be limited for those seeking local employment opportunities," mentioned another expat when asked about moving to Punta del Este, Uruguay.

"The air, the ocean, the birds... Uruguay is simply gorgeous. We grow our own veggies, have organic eggs and yogurt delivered, and the daily fish at the port make eating healthy easy. This has been annus horribilis for everyone, but I can't imagine a better place to be than Punta del Este," commented one expat who made the move to Punta del Este, Uruguay.
