What do people like (and dislike) about Accra?

Answer this Question

When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Accra, they replied...

"Expats and digital nomads living in Accra, often appreciate the friendly and welcoming nature of the local people, making it easy to form connections and feel at home. They also enjoy the vibrant culture, rich history, and lively music scene that the city offers. The relatively low cost of living, affordable housing, and availability of fresh produce at local markets are other aspects that attract expats and digital nomads to Accra. The city's coastal location provides access to beautiful beaches, and the warm climate is a draw for those looking to escape colder weather. Additionally, Accra serves as a convenient base for exploring other parts of West Africa, with many interesting destinations within a short flight or drive. However, there are also some challenges that expats and digital nomads face while living in Accra. Traffic congestion can be a significant issue, leading to long commutes and frustration. The city's infrastructure may not be as developed as in some other countries, which can result in unreliable internet connections, power outages, and water shortages. Healthcare facilities in Accra may not meet the standards that some expats are accustomed to, and it may be necessary to travel to other countries for certain medical treatments. Additionally, the city can be quite noisy and polluted, which may be a concern for those with health issues or sensitivities. Finally, while many locals speak English, there can still be language barriers and cultural differences that may take some time to adjust to. Overall, living in Accra can be a rewarding experience for expats and digital nomads, but it also comes with its share of challenges," said another in Accra, Ghana.
