What do people like (and dislike) about Beirut?
When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Beirut, they replied...
"Expats and digital nomads living in Beirut, often like the vibrant culture, rich history, and friendly locals. They appreciate the city's lively arts scene, diverse culinary offerings, and bustling nightlife. The Mediterranean climate, with its warm summers and mild winters, is also a draw for many. Beirut's relatively low cost of living compared to other major cities is another advantage, as it allows expats and digital nomads to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle without breaking the bank. The city's central location in the region also makes it an excellent base for exploring other parts of the Middle East and Europe. However, there are also several challenges that expats and digital nomads face while living in Beirut. The political situation in Lebanon can be unstable, leading to occasional security concerns and disruptions to daily life. The country's ongoing economic crisis has also led to high inflation, making it difficult for some to maintain their standard of living. Infrastructure in Beirut is often lacking, with frequent power outages, unreliable internet connections, and poor public transportation. Traffic congestion is a common issue, making it difficult to navigate the city efficiently. Additionally, the lack of green spaces and high levels of pollution can be off-putting for some. Lastly, while many locals speak English or French, the language barrier can still be a challenge for expats and digital nomads who do not speak Arabic. This can make it difficult to fully integrate into the local community and access certain services or job opportunities," remarked another expat who made the move to Beirut, Lebanon.
