What do people like (and dislike) about Cork?
When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Cork, they replied...
"Expats and digital nomads generally like living in Cork, for its friendly and welcoming locals, who make it easy for newcomers to feel at home. They appreciate the city's rich history, beautiful architecture, and vibrant arts and culture scene. The relatively low cost of living compared to Dublin is also a plus, as well as the availability of coworking spaces and good internet connectivity for remote work. The city's compact size makes it easy to navigate on foot or by bike, and its proximity to stunning natural landscapes, such as the Wild Atlantic Way and the Ring of Kerry, offers plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and weekend getaways. On the other hand, expats and digital nomads may dislike the unpredictable and often rainy weather in Cork, which can make it challenging to plan outdoor activities. The public transportation system is not as extensive or reliable as in other European cities, which can be frustrating for those without a car. Additionally, the job market can be competitive, particularly for non-EU citizens, and the process of finding accommodation can be difficult due to high demand and limited supply. Finally, some expats may find the local accent challenging to understand at first, although most people adjust to it over time," said another in Cork, Ireland.
