What do people like (and dislike) about Astana?
When we asked expats and global nomads what they like and dislike about living in Astana, they replied...
"Expats and digital nomads living in Astana, often like the modern architecture, which includes iconic structures like the Bayterek Tower and the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation. They also appreciate the relatively low cost of living, which allows for a comfortable lifestyle without breaking the bank. The city is clean and well-maintained, with efficient public transportation and good infrastructure. Astana also offers a range of international restaurants and shopping centers, catering to diverse tastes and preferences. On the other hand, expats and digital nomads may dislike the extreme weather conditions in Astana, with freezing winters and hot summers. The language barrier can also be a challenge, as not many locals speak English, making it difficult to communicate and navigate daily life. Additionally, the city's social scene may not be as vibrant as in other major cities, with limited options for nightlife and entertainment. Some expats may also find it challenging to adapt to the local culture and customs, which can be quite different from their home countries. Finally, the air quality in Astana can be poor at times, particularly during the winter months when coal is used for heating," said another in Astana, Kazakhstan.
